Razer’s updated Viper V2 Pro takes the familiar Viper aesthetic and gives it a long-awaited weight shedding treatment.
The new Viper V2 Pro is more than 20 per cent lighter than the Viper Ultimate – 74g reduced to 58g – and improves on its switches, battery life and its sensor.
Much of the weight shedding is a result of a pragmatic approach, such as the removal of right side buttons (sorry lefties) as well as the rubber grips, which you can apply yourself as an option. The upside is that you can potentially use third-party grips or macgyver something for yourself.
You now have USB-C charging but the dock, which also acts as a 2.4 GHz receiver extender, is replaced by a basic extender dongle. RGB lighting has also been removed, and this helps to improve battery life too.
Razer touts its new Focus Pro 30K Optical Sensor with an accuracy of 99.8 per cent and AI features such as Smart Tracking, which improves the consistency of lift-off distance, while Motion Sync synchronises its signals to the exact intervals your PC extracts information for more accurate tracking. The Asymmetric Cut-off feature now supports up to 26 levels of height adjustment compared to three in the previous version.
Razer also says that the new Gen-3 Optical Mouse Switches have practically zero double-clicking issues and no debounce delay and will last 25 per cent longer than previous generation switches (up to 90 million clicks).
On top of that, they have the perfect ‘advert’ for the mouse: professional Valorant player Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen set a record for most kills during the 2022 Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) with 35 kills.
The new Razer Viper V2 Pro is available in black and white colours and is priced at $229.90 and is available at Razer.com , Lazada , Shopee (when it updates eventually), and authorised resellers.
