Campus Legends returns for a fourth season on 20 May 2022. The student esports event is organised by Singapore’s Cybersports & Online Gaming Association (SCOGA) and Esports Academy and is open to all 16 of Singapore’s institutes of higher learning.
The event is also notable as a platform that seeks to enable students to explore and build a career in competitive gaming along with other professional gaming roles such as shout casters, team managers and streamers.
Viewership numbers have been increasing – 681,000 broadcast viewers with over 23,230 hours watched for Season 3 – while more partners are getting involved this year.
The brightest spark from the SCOGA and PVP Esports partnership is the SCOGA X PVP Esports Scholarship Fund, the main prize for Season 4. The $12,000 scholarship fund ($6,000 cash, $6,000 into Post-Secondary Education Account) is intended to encourage students to remain in school and to show them that they can still chase their dreams of being professional gamers while pursuing an education.
Season 4 Summary
The three games featured for Season 4 are the ever-popular first-person shooter Valorant (PC), mobile multiplayer online battle arena Mobile Legends Bang Bang (Mobile) and a massively multiplayer online cycling game called Zwift.
Zwift is a new entry and it is a continuation of SCOGA’s partnership with the Singapore Cycling Federation (SCF) from last year. Zwift is also a legitimate physical training programme that is part of the Olympic Virtual Series and is approved by the cycling world governing body Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). Zwift has been designated as an individual event and is open to students from Institutes of Technical Education (ITE), Polytechnics, Colleges and Junior Colleges.
The season kicks off on 20 May 2022 with school qualifying rounds over nine weekends. The group stages will take place from June to July 2022, with the Grand Finals set for 6-7 August 2022.
All games will be live-streamed on Twitch and TikTok, complete with play-by-play commentary and shoutcasters are products of SCOGA and Esports Academy’s Incubator Programmes.
