Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro: full-size, and fully featured

Razer updates its full-sized gaming keyboard for the numpad enjoyers.

BlackWidow V4 Pro is Razer’s latest update of its full-size gaming keyboard. It features a new Razer Command Dial, dedicated macro keys, comprehensive Razer Chroma RGB lighting, Razer Mechanical Switches and dedicated media controls.

The Command Dial offers advanced controls and shortcuts for desktop apps and in-game navigation and controls. You can program the dial with up to 100 Custom Modes and map both clockwise and counter-clockwise action of the dial to your preferred action.

There’s certainly no shortage of macro keys here: five macro keys are placed to the left of the main keyboard layout for easy access, and another three macro keys along its edge.

The BlackWidow V4 Pro also has a polling rate of up to a whopping 8,000 Hz, which is ridiculously high. In reality, it should only really be (psychologically) useful to Osu! rhythm game players.

Other gaming-centric features include USB 2.0 passthrough, detachable Type C connections and dual-angle kickstands.

Of course, this keyboard supports per-key Razer Chroma RGB lighting and multi-zone RGB underglow lighting, which you can sync with other Razer Chroma RGB enabled gear through Razer Synapse.

Also notable is the fact that the BlackWidow V4 Pro features Razer’s latest-generation mechanical switches, with Green Clicky switches for tactile feedback or Yellow Linear switches if you like them smooth. Unfortunately, they are not hot-swappable, so you have to decide what switches you want when you purchase the keyboard.

However, Razer is well aware of its mod-happy customers, and the new keyboard has a few features that custom keyboard dabblers might like. The 5052 aluminium alloy top case isn’t new or unusual, but keyboard enjoyers will like the deeper-sounding top (as opposed to 6000 series aluminium). But more importantly, the keyboard has two layers of internal sound dampening foam and factory-lubricated stabilisers for a more pleasant typing sound.

Priced at SGD359 (~RM1190), the Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro is now available on Razer.com, RazerStores, and Authorised Resellers.
