Xiaomi was in on the whole smart home game for the longest time and their new AIoT products make it more accessible for people to err, ‘smarten’ up their homes. The new, diverse range of products runs the full gamut of appliances from home entertainment to cooking to even pet care products.
You can now view all of these at their first Smart Home Solutions showcase in Singapore at M.SPACO, a one-stop home solutions provider and experiential gallery at The Poiz Centre. However, I don’t think you should ask if you can get a sample of snacks from the air fryer–at least don’t expect puzzled looks in return. But it does give you an idea of how Xiaomi’s eco-system of Smart Home products will work in a home setting and how they look in the context of your current decor.
It all starts from the Netflix machine
Aside from the Prism+, iFFALCON and an OG called TCL, the other reputable budget go-to is Xiaomi. And they now have two new offerings: the A2 series and the P1E 65″.
The A2 58″ ($999) sports a sleek unibody metal frame and bezel-less design with double stands. In terms of features, it pretty much is on par with the competition (they all are pretty much identical at this price): 4K resolution with Dolby Vision, Dolby Audio and DTS-HD support, along with the convenience of Google Assistant voice control via a Bluetooth remote. You have the full perks of the Play Store, along with the flexibility of using Chromecast.

Right now it has an early bird price of $799. The A2 series also has 32” ($329) and 43” ($499) models, which go for $279 and $429 at early bird prices.
If you want something a little more premium, Xiaomi has you covered with the P1E 65″ ($1,299). It offers 4K with 60Hz MEMC motion smoothing with __ coverage for DCI-P3, along with HDR10 and HLG support on top of Dolby Vision. Like the A2 series, the P1E also has DTS-HD and Dolby Audio support. The P1E 65″ runs on Android TV and has Chromecast built-in, and also has the Bluetooth remote to facilitate voice control.
The Xiaomi P1E 65″ with early bird price is certainly an attractive proposition.
The early bird price of $999 is a real banger and this should be the one to go for if you are choosing between the A2 58″.
‘I was frying when I pet you’
Unprovoked (and nonsensical) Aerosmith pun aside, Xiaomi’s Air Fryer and pet feeders are classic modern kitchen appliances designed towards the opposite effect: taking the edge off repetitive tasks that might get on our nerves after a long hard day’s work. Nothing more provocative than an innocuous, “what’s for dinner?”
The Mi Smart Air Fryer doesn’t look much but it works with the decor.
The Mi Smart Air Fryer 3.5L ($139) is compatible with the Xiaomi Home/Mi Home app; it can be controlled remotely and set to cook anywhere between 40°C and 200°C. You can even schedule a cooked meal up to 24 hours in advance (note it doesn’t have any way to chill food) and slow cook up to 24 hours. For those who are pushing the dictionary definition of busy to its limits, the Air Fryer incorporates Google Assistant to start, pause, or check the remaining cooking time. The app offers over 100 recipe ideas as well if you really are not in the mood to think. This alone is pretty flexible and enables processes like yoghurt fermentation or pet food dehydration. There’s an early bird price of $109 if you’re interested.
Xiaomi gets into the pet-ting [groan] zone with Smart Pet Feeder.
The pet feeder features a six-grid dispensing structure, flexible soft silicone food stirrer, dispensing blades tested to last over 10,000 dispensing cycles, and a wide channel to prevent blockages when dispensing. It can hold approximately 1.8kg of dry food and is moisture-proof. The dispenser can also send reminders when food reserves are low.
Xiaomi Smart Pet Fountain emulates water sources in nature.
The pet fountain takes a cue from nature and uses a circular water circuit to create an effect that Xiaomi says appeals to the instincts of pets. The four-stage filtration system removes fine particles, hair, and residual chlorine including calcium and magnesium ions that cause kidney stones. The Xiaomi Home/Mi Home app pushes reminders when you need to add water, clean the fountain, or replace the filter.
Xiaomi Smart Pet Feeder and Xiaomi Smart Pet Fountain also have early bird prices of $139 and $89 respectively.
Last but not least
The Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact ($159) is rated to trap 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns through 3-in-1 filtration and is certified by TÜV Rheinland to effectively aid in allergen removal. You get real-time air quality monitoring for enhanced purification with air quality indicator lights.
The Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Compact isn’t quite compact-compact but it’s small enough.
