When it comes to shavers, it’s always about getting that little bit of an edge with every upgrade – a closer shave and gentler on the skin. The new Philips Shaver S9000 Prestige (SP9873/15) addresses these points with a sleek new pentagonal head to improve precision while the proprietary hydrophilic coating minimises irritation for those with sensitive skin.

The proprietary new Hydro SkinGlide coating is made up of up to 500,000 microtech beads per square centimetre. These beads with hydrophilic properties attract moisture and spread it evenly across one’s face while shaving. Philips says this coating improves the smoothness when gliding across the skin by up to fifty per cent.

The new NanoTech Dual Precision blades deliver up to 165,000 cutting actions per minute. They are designed with a Guide and Cut System and hardened with nanoparticles. Philips says the 72 self-sharpening blades are extra strong and will hold their edge well. Combined with the Ultraflex Suspension system and top-spin digital motor, these fully flexible heads adapt to the contours of your face better to catch difficult hairs growing in different directions and densities, and even in tricky areas. Furthermore, a Power Adapt Sensor checks hair density 500 times per second and adapts shaving power accordingly for a highly efficient shave, even with week-long stubble.

The new shave also sports the best quality-of-life features, which include personalised comfort settings, one-touch open cleaning, Qi-wireless charging and a premium storage pouch.

The Philips Shaver S9000 Prestige retails for $699 at leading electronics stores, Philips official online stores and selected authorised dealers. In addition, until the end of June, you can trade up to enjoy a $200 discount.
