IKEA Singapore’s Home Design Service now coordinates kitchen installations with City Energy

The partnership brings gas appliances and specialist installation into IKEA’s affordable home design offering, reducing suppliers homeowners need to manage.

IKEA can help you plan and furnish your home through its Home Design Service, but making sure cabinets and gas appliances work together is another matter. The Swedish furniture giant is now taking some of that coordination off homeowners’ hands through a partnership with Life by City Energy.

Previously, customers had to source gas appliances separately, bring their specifications back to IKEA and arrange delivery and installation themselves.

Now, IKEA’s Home Design specialists coordinate appliance dimensions, positioning, gas-piping requirements and installation schedules with Life by City Energy, which arranges delivery, installation and gas connections through its teams and partners — IKEA remains the homeowner’s main point of contact. The partnership covers gas hobs, cooker hoods, water heaters and dryers.

While retailers offering interior design and renovation services aren’t new, IKEA brings the concept to a familiar mass-market setting, with free design consultations, modular furnishings and transparent product pricing. The City Energy partnership extends that approach beyond IKEA’s own catalogue, giving homeowners one less supplier to chase.

From flatpacks to (almost) full renovations

Soft-launched in September 2025, IKEA’s Home Design Service provides space planning, furnishing advice and installation coordination using IKEA products, without a separate design consultation fee. It has served 300 homeowners to date.

For homeowners who would rather not engage a full-service interior designer, it offers professional design assistance without committing to the conventional ID route. Earlier this year, IKEA announced plans to introduce full renovation services in the second half of 2026, although the rollout remains partial at this point.
