Looking to upgrade your live streaming or home recording setup? beyerdynamic has just rolled out two headphones and microphones that might be interesting to you.

DT 700 PRO X and DT 900 PRO X

The primary difference between the two new headphones is primarily preference: the DT 700 PRO X is closed-back while the DT 900 PRO X is open-back. Otherwise, they both share the new STELLAR.45 driver tech that features a new three-layer speaker cone with an integrated attenuating layer. The driver system is highly efficient with an impedance of only 48 ohms, meaning you can use them on any modern device with a headphone jack without worrying about a lack of power.

The construction on both headphones is driven by function – all parts can be replaced if need be – and combined with the use of a robust spring steel bracket construction and quality materials, provides longevity and potentially long service life. They both utilise a mini-XLR connection for their cables, which ensures longevity and convenience, while velour ear pads and soft memory foam in the headband provide comfort for long hours of use.

M 70 PRO X and M 90 PRO X

The M 70 PRO X is the designated broadcasting, podcasting and streaming microphone, while the M90 PRO X is designed for recording vocals and instruments. The M 70 PRO X has been optimised specifically for speech and is capable of almost completely blocking out surrounding noise even in acoustically challenging environments. The M 90 PRO X offers detailed sound and balanced signal-to-noise ratio, making it ideal for vocals, instruments, and voice recordings. Both feature a minimalist black design and an aluminium housing to reduce weight and facilitate easy mounting. Parts, like capsule, circuit board or connector, are interchangeable and replaceable too.

beyerdynamic says the new microphones are designed around a natural sound character and will deliver detailed nuances and an exceedingly low-noise signal at all volumes. This is in part, due to the elastic system suspension and stable microphone spider mount, which reduce unwanted sounds like footsteps, hand grips or keyboard noise. A pop filter is also included so you can reduce breathing noise and harsh plosive sounds (hard consonants).

beyerdynamic also mentioned that they made the microphones livelier by tuning the proximity effect, while a low-noise operational amplifier and a precise voltage regulator help to create a clear, warm sound.

Availability and Pricing

The DT 700 PRO X and DT 900 PRO X will be priced at $399, while the M 70 PRO X and M 90 PRO X cost $399 and $499 respectively. They are expected to arrive here in December 2021.
