If you’re a DBS account holder, you can now use PayLah! through Telegram.
DBS is the first bank in Singapore to enable Peer-to-Peer (P2P) payment services on Telegram and I suppose we can expect the rest to follow suit at some point.
With this feature, you can now transfer funds to family and friends while chatting on Telegram . Do note that you need to have the PayLah app installed on your phone to use the feature.
While it doesn’t have a point-and-click interface, the upside is that you never have to leave the app to make a payment or do that back and forth thing because it’s 2021 and we can’t remember eight digits to save our lives.
Step 1: Within your Telegram chat, type @PayLahBot to initiate the transaction.
Step 2: PayLahBot will prompt you to enter the amount you wish to transfer and hit Send/Request.
Step 3: You’d be prompted to enter the amount, then tap on the Send/ Request button. This brings up a PayLah! pop up with the transaction request.
Step 4: Choose the recipient and tap on ‘Confirm’ to complete the transaction.
Step 5: Once this is done, Telegram will close the popups and direct you back to the Telegram chat, and a confirmation message will be displayed.
If you need another visual aid for the older folk, DBS also has short videos on how to send money and request money .
DBS is also running a contest where from 18 Oct to 25 Nov, the top 25 customers who’ve sent the most number of P2P payment transfers to unique recipients via Telegram will win a set of Apple AirPods each.
