Xiaomi drops an SGD 349 front-load washer and washer-dryers starting at SGD 599

Xiaomi has expanded its Singapore home-appliance range with three Mijia front-load machines priced from SGD 349 to SGD 699. The line-up comprises an 8kg washer, a 9kg/6kg washer-dryer and a 10.5kg/7kg washer-dryer.

With front-load washers starting at SGD 349 and front-load washer-dryers starting at SGD 599, both sit towards the lower end of current mainstream prices for their respective capacities.

The SGD 599 model covers the essentials

The Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer 9kg combines a 9kg washing capacity with a 6kg drying capacity in a 535mm-deep body. It uses a 525mm drum and reaches a maximum spin speed of 1,200rpm.

It features a Wash & Dry programme that can wash and dry approximately 300g of lightweight synthetic clothing in a single 59-minute cycle, giving you a quick option to clear a few everyday garments rather than accumulating a full laundry basket.

More than 30 programmes are available between the touch panel and Xiaomi Home app, including Baby Care, Underwear and a 15-minute Quick Wash for lighter loads.

Other functions include load sensing, automatic drying controls, a drum light, a 24-hour delay timer and the ability to pause and add clothes when water level and temperature permit. The machine can also periodically turn clothes left in the drum after a completed cycle, helping to reduce odours from damp laundry left sitting inside.

Another SGD 100 buys more capacity and direct drive

The Mijia Front Load Washer Dryer 10.5kg increases washing capacity to 10.5kg and drying capacity to 7kg. It is 35mm deeper than the 9kg model at 570mm, while retaining the same 598mm width and 850mm height.

The larger machine also swaps the inverter motor for a direct-drive design connected to the drum without a belt. This reduces the number of moving components, suggesting quieter operation and improved durability — on paper, at least.

Its 32 programmes include the same 59-minute Wash & Dry option, alongside steam hygiene, fabric-refreshing and drum-cleaning modes. A 525mm drum, load detection, automatic drying controls, a drum light, delayed starting and mid-cycle additions round out the practical features. It carries a two-year overall warranty and a 12-year motor warranty.

The extra SGD 100 therefore buys another 1.5kg of washing capacity, 1kg of drying capacity and the direct-drive motor. For households that regularly fill a washer-dryer, that is likely the easier of the two upgrades to justify.

The SGD 349 model drops drying

The Mijia Front Load Washer 8kg is the basic option for homes that already air-dry their laundry or have a separate dryer. With an overall depth of 450mm, it houses an 8kg capacity, 525mm drum and an inverter motor offering a maximum spin speed of 1,200 rpm.

It also retains steam cleaning, Power Wash, load detection, a 15-minute Quick Wash and Xiaomi Home app support. The 8kg washer is sold exclusively through mi.com and Xiaomi’s official Shopee and Lazada stores. Both washer-dryers are also available from physical Xiaomi Stores.

Familiar features at unusually low prices

Xiaomi’s new washers also integrate with Xiaomi Home, allowing users to manage cycles remotely and receive programme recommendations, while over-the-air updates can add or change software functions. They also support Google and Alexa voice controls for starting, stopping and scheduling laundry.

All three machines have a two-year warranty on all parts (12 years coverage on the motor) and are rated four ticks under PUB’s Mandatory Water Efficiency Labelling Scheme.

While nothing here rewrites the washer-dryer category in terms of tech, the price does make it a lot easier to afford 9kg/6kg and 10.5kg/7kg models for under SGD 700 while retaining steam programmes, app controls, load sensing, and four-tick water efficiency.
