SteelSeries has a new Prime lineup that they co-developed with professional players and designed for competition-level use.
The Prime series is characterised by its performance-driven, no bells and whistles approach. Steelseries says the series is a reflection of the input and feedback of over a hundred of the world’s leading competitive professional players.
Currently, the Prime series features three mice and a headset. The mice are designed to be lightweight and streamlined while the headset is armed with what SteelSeries calls best-in-class tech and innovation.
The three options of mice offered are based on styles of play and are named Prime, Prime+ and Prime Wireless.
They all feature the new Prestige OM (Optical Magnetic) switches. The switch utilises a beefy steel torsion spring that’s held in place with a neodymium magnet. The spring makes actuation crisp while the magnet ensures that the release force stays consistent for a long time – SteelSeries says it will last five times longer than what’s on the market right now.
Prime ($119) features a ‘battle-tested’ shape for comfort even in stressful conditions. At 69g, its lightweight body reduces wrist fatigue from constant lifting. It’s designed to stand up to intense use with a durable design and a non-slip grip. The Prime uses a TrueMove Pro sensor (18,000 CPI, 450 IPS, 50G Acceleration) with onboard customisation.
Prime+ ($149) is slightly heavier than the Prime at 71g and features a TrueMove Pro+ sensor (18,000 CPI, 450 IPS, 50G Acceleration), which has an additional sensor to detect lift-off distance. It allows you to adjust a distance ranging between 0.5-2mm. Like the others, it features onboard customisation but it’s the only one with a built-in OLED screen.
Prime Wireless ($299) features a dual-channel wireless system to ensure a constant uninterrupted connection. The battery provides over 100 hours of play on 1000Hz and can be fast-charged as well (15 minutes for 40 hours). It is understandably heavier at 80g. It features a TrueMove Air sensor (18,000 CPI, 400 IPS, 40G Acceleration) and onboard customisation.
Arctis Prime ($179) pairs high-resolution, 40mm drivers (10-40,000kHz) with new noise-isolating leatherette ear cushions and a bi-directional noise-cancelling microphone that’s certified by Discord. The aluminium alloy and steel construction balance rigidity and weight while other amenities include a detachable 3.5mm cable, on-headset volume and mute controls.
