Will the Insta360 GO 3 take portable filmmaking to new heights? This next-gen tiny camera boasts a host of features, including a flip screen Action Pod, extended battery life, and the promise of unrivalled versatility.
The new flagship GO 3 retains the signature features of Insta360 cameras, such as FlowState Stabilization and 360 Horizon Lock for smoother footage while minimising unwanted tilting and distortion in action-packed scenarios. It also addresses the limitations of previous iterations with software optimisations and a resolution upgrade to 2.7K pixels. It’s also smaller than a thumb and weighs a mere 35g. As such, it’s easy to mount the camera’s magnetic body, enabling creative vantage points that would otherwise be impossible or involve too much effort and expense. Add to that the GO 3’s IPX8 waterproof camera, which is designed to withstand depths of up to 5m, and you have an action camera that is exceptionally versatile.
Audio quality receives a significant boost as well with dual microphones, while the enhanced Voice Control 2.0 allows hands-free operation. The GO 3 also features new recording modes, such as Pre-recording, Loop Recording, and Timed Capture.
The GO 3 also comes with powerful app and editing tools designed to streamline the filmmaking journey. One example is FreeFrame Mode, which lets you modify the aspect ratio of your clip post-shooting, so you can easily edit the same clip for various platforms. It also has AI-powered editing features that curate the best clips into custom reels, making content curation a breeze.
Other modes include TimeShift for hyperlapse montages, AI-powered PureShot HDR for photos with enhanced dynamic range, slow motion up to 120fps, and captivating timelapses.
The Action Pod
The GO 3’s larger 310mAh battery offers an impressive 50% increase in continuous shooting time without the Pod and there are no clip length restrictions. However, if you need more battery life the accompanying IPX4-rated Action Pod has you covered–it functions as a housing, remote control, and charger and extends shooting time for up to 170 minutes.
The housing connects to the GO 3 via Bluetooth, providing real-time remote control and live preview capabilities. The integrated 2.2″ flip touchscreen on the Action Pod allows remote control, enabling users to preview their shots even in hard-to-reach locations. Between these two ‘modes’, you have a variety of shooting possibilities, ranging from first-person to pet POV.
Other accessories bundled include the Magnet Pendant, which can be worn around the neck while the Easy Clip fits on hats for hands-free, high-angle shots. The Pivot Stand offers a reusable sticky mounting with adjustable angles and is compatible with selfie sticks and tripods via a 1/4″ mounting point.
The Insta360 GO 3 is now available with prices starting at SGD559 | MYR1,799 for the standalone kit (32GB, no Insta360 Care and Extended Warranty). The kit includes the GO3, Action Pod, Magnet Pendant, Easy Clip, Pivot Stand, and Lens Guard.
