Netflix has released a scintillating trailer for their highly successful self-produced anime, Castlevania.

From the looks of it, the fourth and final season of Castlevania is going to be quite a spectacle. Castlevania has been taking the slow burn approach in developing plotlines for its many characters and it looks like everyone’s paths will cross again to bring this chapter of Netflix’s Castlevania lore to a close.

Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades, come to realise that there are a growing number of people who want – and are actively trying – to revive Dracula. The trailer reveals that they find themselves back in Targoviste, where it all began, and believe that there they ended up there for a reason.

Isaac, the Dracula loyalist, remains steadfast to his former master’s bidding and is growing a formidable army intent on destruction. Arguably, he represents the greatest threat amongst the antagonists, and he is on a mission to conquer the world.

Hector, simp to Lenore and slave to the Council of Sisters, finally starts work creating an army of night creatures to match Camilla’s ambitions. Camilla and her sisters will resume their single-minded intent on conquest as well, but storytelling convention dictates that a redemption arc is surely on the cards for Beta supreme Hector.

Alucard, who is seemingly being dragged down a path of despair as his father before him, is seen in the trailer offering help to humans. Undoubtedly shenanigans on Netflix’s part to disguise his state of mind, however, fan service bit in the form of Alucard’s iconic shield making an appearance indicates a positive outcome. Furthermore, I suppose fans will also have a little treat learning how Alucard obtained the shield in this universe.

As to whether the dreaded one will reappear, the trailer ends with the teasing of the Grim Reaper or Death. Fans recognise that his appearance often precedes a confrontation with the Count himself, so make of that what you will. Castlevania Season 4 comes to Netflix on May 13.
