Hogwarts Legacy to receive multiplayer feature through a mod

Eight-player multiplayer mod is being developed by the Skyrim Together Reborn team

It has only been a week since its release and Hogwarts Legacy has already been making headlines for good and not-so-good reasons. Yet, at the same time, it has received a ton of glowing reviews from critics and gamers.

One of the surefire ways to know if a game is actually any good is if it gets love and support from the modding community and Hogwarts Legacy is already receiving its fair share of interesting creations with the game’s Nexus Mods page already packed with 200+ mods that run the gamut of the usual stuff such as quality of life tweaks, hotfixes, cheat mods and even wand replacements.

While it is undoubtedly fun to wander around this vast world on your own, it would definitely be even better if you could form your own ‘clique’ in the game and have friends go on adventures with you. Sadly, Hogwarts Legacy doesn’t natively come with multiplayer capabilities but as always, modders are coming to the rescue.

The aptly named Together Team, who have successfully brought multiplayer to Skyrim with their Skyrim Together Reborn mod are working their magic once again for Hogwarts Legacy with the HogWarp mod. Mod maker Yamashi told PCGamer that “the goal is to enable up to eight people to play together, although that could change depending on how development unfolds.”

While there isn’t a public build of HogWarp at the time of writing, it is available to Yamashi’s Patreon subscribers. As it is a very early build, the modders have warned: “to expect something very barebones and buggy.”

As for the estimated time of arrival of a fully-functioning mod, the team have said that it will probably take a few months while they aim to release a proof concept to everyone within this month.
