Blending photography with creative workshops

The programme on 23 and 24 July extends well beyond cameras. Workshops will cover Kokedama (Japanese botanical art) and plant repotting, styling and photography with Soilboy; miniature painting and Dungeons & Dragons with TableMinis; scrapbooking with Marian Carmel; and pet photography.

Four activity stations will operate across the two festival days. Visitors receive a stamp at each station and can redeem one random collectable card for every stamp. Completing all four stations earns an additional fifth card, while anyone who manages to assemble all five card designs will be in the running to win a Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III.

Selected workshops will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis and may require advance registration and a small fee.

Visitors can also join guided photo walks or try Canon cameras and printers available around the event space. Crew members will be present to help people use the equipment.

The 2026 PhotoMarathon adds video

The Canon PhotoMarathon returns on 25 July with its familiar time-limited format. Three themes will be revealed during the competition, with participants given two hours to photograph and submit an entry for each one.

The photography competition is open to users of all camera brands, with more than SGD 50,000 in Canon equipment offered as prizes across its Open and Student categories.

New for the 20th edition is a separate video category, with smartphones accepted alongside conventional cameras.

Its schedule begins earlier: Canon will reveal the video theme at 12.01 am on 23 July, after which participants have until 11.59 pm that day to film, edit and submit their entry. Video and photography winners will be announced at the event on 25 July.

Registration for both editions of the PhotoMarathon is open through Canon’s event page.
