Galaxy S25 FE: Samsung’s flagship-lite finally shows up

The S25 without frills — Full Galaxy AI, triple cameras, bigger battery, and cheaper.

The Fan Edition has always been Samsung’s way of saying: “Here’s the flagship, just minus the parts you didn’t really need.”

The Galaxy S25 FE keeps the big screen, cameras, and AI smarts — but trims the luxury bits.

What you still get

What’s good to know is that Samsung didn’t gut the experience. The 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X still runs at 120Hz, wrapped in an Armor Aluminum frame with IP68 water resistance. Inside, you get the Exynos 2400, 8GB RAM, and up to 512GB storage.

Cameras aren’t token either: 50MP main with OIS, 12MP ultrawide, 8MP telephoto (3x OIS), plus a new 12MP selfie shooter powered by the ProVisual Engine. The 4,900mAh battery finally brings 45W fast charging (65% in ~30 minutes), wireless charging, and Wireless PowerShare.

It also debuts a larger vapour chamber for better cooling, making it more suitable for gaming and heavy AI use. On the software side, you get the full Galaxy AI suite:

  • Gemini Live – Samsung’s new multimodal AI, which can “see what you see” for real-time, contextual help.

  • Generative Edit – erases distractions or fills in backgrounds with AI.

  • Circle to Search – circle anything on-screen to get instant Google results.

  • Instant Slow-Mo – turn any video into smooth slow motion with a single tap.

  • Audio Eraser – strip out unwanted sounds (wind, chatter, background noise) from videos.

  • Now Bar / Now Brief – lock-screen and daily feeds for glanceable updates, reminders, and routines.

Samsung also introduced its new Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) here, a security layer that creates app-specific encrypted spaces within Knox Vault. It works alongside the Personal Data Engine (PDE) to keep personalised insights, such as routines and preferences, on-device by default. With AI features leaning heavily on personal data,

Samsung also rolled out its new privacy stack here, previously only found on the Z Fold and Z Flip series. At its core is Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), which creates app-specific encrypted spaces inside Knox Vault so no app can overreach into another’s data. It works hand-in-hand with the Personal Data Engine (PDE), which keeps routines, habits, and personalised AI insights on-device by default.

With Advanced Intelligence Settings, you can even decide whether an AI task stays local or uses the cloud for heavier workloads (though it might disable some features). Together, these features make the S25 FE the first non-foldable Galaxy phone to ship with Samsung’s full next-gen privacy and security suite.

What you don’t

No Snapdragon SoC. No adaptive LTPO panel. No 200MP sensor or periscope zoom. RAM stays capped at 8GB. This is Samsung’s flagship-lite, not a sleeper Ultra.

The standard S25 may have a smaller 6.2-inch LTPO display that’s more efficient, but the FE claws back ground with its much larger 4,900mAh battery, which may outlast the regular model’s 4,000mAh cell.

Price and availability

The S25 FE is the sensible way into the full Galaxy AI experience: all the new smarts, a proper triple-camera setup, and a big battery at a lower price. It’s also the first FE to carry Samsung’s new KEEP security architecture, the upgraded ProVisual front camera, and a bigger vapour chamber for cooling. Samsung’s update promise for the FE matches Google’s seven-year stretch (seven OS upgrades and seven years of security patches). If you want Galaxy AI without Ultra excess, the FE finally makes good on that idea.

The S25 FE comes in Navy, Jetblack, Icyblue, and White, giving a mix of classic and bold colour options. They come in three configurations as well:

  • 8+128GB (online only) – SGD 948

  • 8+256GB – SGD 1,038

  • 8+512GB – SGD 1,218

It goes on sale from 12 September at telcos, Samsung Online, Shop App, and major retailers. Launch promos cover free storage upgrades, up to SGD 900 trade-in rebates, and six months of Google AI Pro.
