Samsung expands its ViewFinity monitor lineup by introducing the 27-inch ViewFinity S9 (S90PC).

Designed with graphic designers and photographers in mind, this 27-inch screen packs 5K pixels (5,120 x 2,880), which is over 50% larger than its UHD counterparts and boasts a pixel density of 218ppi. Having a large canvas will be useful to those in the business of graphics–you have a far more comfortable visual space to work with.

The ViewFinity S9 also has respectable specs for a screen geared towards content creation. With 99% coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, high typical brightness of 600 cd/m2, and a decently accurate Delta E of <2 right out of the box.

The monitor can be calibrated via the Smart Calibration feature in the SmartThings app, eschewing expensive dedicated calibration hardware, which is an industry first. According to Samsung, you simply point your smartphone at the screen to start the process. Users can choose to apply simple adjustments via a simple mode while the professional mode offers complete control of colour temperature, luminance, colour space, and gamma settings. You will also get a detailed report of adjustments made and Delta E colour accuracy.
