Gamers everywhere, you are about to have a very busy September as there are a whole lot of games being released this month. The bigger titles releasing in September include The Last of Us Part I (September 2), NBA 2K23 (September 9), Splatoon 3 (September 9), The Diofield Chronicle (September 22) and FIFA 23 (September 30).
However, as always, we here at Potions like to highlight smaller titles that you shouldn’t overlook.
Temtem
Who’s that Poké…wait…who are these mons?

Humble Games and Crema’s multiplayer creature-collection game, Temtem will finally be making its way out of Early Access to an official launch right at the beginning of the month with a slew of new features.
If you have not heard of Temtem before, it is very similar to Nintendo’s Pokémon where you will catch creatures known as Temtems and battle other tamers. The main difference here is you will be able to explore the dynamic online world made up of six vivid islands with a friend, customise a house and experience seasonal updates.

After you complete your adventure in the Airborne Archipelago, you can head over to an Endgame island that features new activities, new places to shop and new areas to explore with friends.
Steelrising
This new Parisian fashion is quite an Eiffel (eyeful).

Steelrising is the latest entry to the Soulslike genre and is set in an alternate 1789 Paris with iconic locations and monuments. This is the year of the Storming of the Bastille and the start of the monarchy’s downfall. In Steelrising’s alternate history, King Louis XVI builds an army of robots to quell the insurrection. However, this army spares no one and violently punishes rebels, leaving Paris burning and bleeding.
You play as Aegis, a mysterious automaton that was created as a dancer for the pleasure of the Court but is now a warrior and Marie-Antoinette’s bodyguard. The Queen has tasked Aegis to cut a path through Paris where the machines are sowing terror. Each fight with these mechanical enemies is a challenge where your skills will be severely tested.
That is a very unique looking pirouette.
Aegis is highly customisable and has abilities that can be upgraded so you can play as a ruthless warrior, hard-hitting bodyguard, deadly dancer or virtuoso of the elemental arts. Exploration of revolutionary Paris is also very different as Aegis can use a grappling hook that adds verticality and a new dimension to exploration. Plus, there is also a dash ability that will provide access to all the city’s secrets across multiple levels.
Metal: Hellsinger
Not quite the brass I was expecting to hear.

In the recent Gamescom event, Funcom and The Outsiders’ heavy metal rhythm shooter Metal: Hellsinger won the Most Wanted PC Game Award and its demo on Steam has received over a million downloads. So if you are a first-person shooter fan looking for a new way to shred your foes, then you should add this game to your wishlist.
The premise of the game may sound like another storied FPS, as you go on a journey through hell and slay demons. However, the difference here is that you will need to slay to the beat and stay in the flow, and the better you are at it, the more intense the experience gets, with the music unfolding in layers until it culminates in full vocals blasting as you tear through the hellspawn. Vocals are provided by metal icons such as Matt Heafy of Trivium, Serj Tankian of System of a Down, Alyssa White-Gluz of Arch Enemy and more. This is accompanied by voice work by the always brilliant Troy Baker and Jennifer Hale.
Sweetest sound to an FPS fan’s ears…pew pew bang bang!

Hokko Life
The first rule about Hokko Life is “We don’t talk about Tom Nook.”

Hokko Life is Team17 and Wonderscope Games’ alternative to Nintendo’s hit community life sim, Animal Crossing: New Horizons. While it has been available to PC gamers via Steam Early Access since June 2021, console gamers will be able to enjoy this game as it makes a full release this month.
Similar to Animal Crossing, you will customise and cultivate your very own cosy community, make friends with the villagers, take part in minigames and get extremely creative with the intricate 3D design tool. Over the course of its time in Early Access, Hokko Life has already received countless updates which added new areas for farming, shopping and over 250 new cosmetic items. The devs have even overhauled the introduction of the game.
Yes! Now we can all obsess over how a pillow should really be placed.
For those who really like flexing their creativity, Hokko Life’s 3D design tool gives you the power to meticulously craft items by changing the basic things like colour and fabric but go one step further by letting you adjust and edit things such as the angle of a pillow on a sofa. Once you are happy with your creation, you can then easily share it with friends and other players around the world.
