With the Galaxy Z Flip7, Samsung delivers on the promise of a foldable that works even when it’s shut.
The new 4.1″ FlexWindow isn’t just bigger; it’s more capable, intuitive, and personal. You can now run Gemini Live, issue voice prompts, check schedules, reply to messages, and even use camera controls—all without unfolding the phone.
Looks good, feels sharper
The Flip7 refines Samsung’s compact foldable formula without breaking what works. The cover screen now stretches edge to edge with ultra-slim bezels (just 1.25mm) and peaks at 1,600 nits brightness, enhanced by Vision Booster. It’s the most usable FlexWindow yet, even in broad daylight.
Flip it open, and the 6.7″ Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display now reaches a peak brightness of 2,600 nits and supports a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, making it one of the brightest and smoothest foldables to date. The screen feels wider and more balanced—closer to a Galaxy S25+ in aspect ratio, while still maintaining a comfortable grip for one-handed use.
The Armor Aluminum frame is built to take daily knocks without fuss, and Samsung has reworked the hinge and internal design to help slim down the bezels while maintaining IPX8 water resistance. Colours are trendy but restrained: Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Ring, and Mint (online exclusive).
Smarter camera tools, same great sensor
The Flip7 retains the same hardware as the Flip6: a 50MP wide-angle main sensor and a 12MP ultra-wide. But paired with Samsung’s latest ProVisual Engine and 10-bit HDR, the experience feels sharper, more responsive, and far more flexible.
Selfies shot from the FlexWindow now benefit from real-time filters, Auto Zoom, and Camera Hold Visualisation, so you know when you’re recording, zooming, or on a timer. The new Zoom Slider lets you reframe shots with a swipe, eliminating the need to open the phone or tap the screen.
And of course, with Flex Cam, you can set the phone down and shoot hands-free—great for vlogs or group photos.
Pocket AI that talks back
Multimodal Galaxy AI comes to the cover screen: Gemini Live lets you issue commands or ask questions hands-free, while voice-responsive AI makes it feel like a true assistant in your palm. FlexWindow now supports more than just widgets, with new layouts and app integrations for messaging, selfies, and media playback.
Inside, One UI 8 enhances app scaling and transitions between folded and unfolded states, making the experience feel more fluid and seamless. Now Bar and Now Brief offer contextual prompts, such as travel tips, weather updates, or daily summaries, while you’re actively using the device.
Powering it all is the 3nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, which delivers approximately 40% better AI performance than its predecessor. Paired with a 4,300mAh battery—Samsung’s largest in a Flip to date—you get smoother performance and better longevity. Charging is rated at 25W wired and 15W wireless, filling 50% of the battery in around 30 minutes.
Flip7 FE: The gateway foldable?
If the Flip7 is the flagship, the Flip7 FE is its accessible sibling. As Samsung’s first Fan Edition foldable, it retains the form factor and core features—such as Flex Cam and cover screen functionality—but lowers the price to SGD 1,098.
The FE model features a smaller FlexWindow, a simplified dual-camera system, and an undisclosed mid-range processor (likely from the Snapdragon 7-series). It lacks the full ProVisual Engine and Galaxy AI toolkit, but retains the Flip’s hands-free shooting and compact charm.
Available in monochrome White or Black, the Flip7 FE is clearly less powerful, but for users curious about foldables who don’t need flagship specs, this might be the entry point that finally tips the form factor into the mainstream.
Fun but flawed no longer
The Galaxy Z Flip started as a novelty, but it’s maturing into a form factor that isn’t just a stylish throwback. From FlexWindow workflows to AI enhancements and real battery stamina, it’s evolved into a truly unique flagship category phone. In a sea of samey-looking slab phones, the Flip7 stands out as a truly compelling alternative.
