Samsung’s 2025 TVs become passive smart home companions with Vision AI

Samsung trades AI flash for function—with TVs that gesture, babysit, and blend in.

Samsung’s 2025 TV lineup has gone from brighter screens and faster refresh rates to a passive smart home companion. The introduction of Vision AI, the latest Neo QLED, OLED, and Frame models, means that your TVs now respond to their environment, quietly adapt to user routines, and handle domestic tasks on the side.

Useful, ambient, and almost invisible

Forget radical new hardware; this is just a reframe of the TV’s purpose (not a Frame joke). Vision AI builds on Samsung’s existing SmartThings ecosystem by shifting some smart home responsibilities to the TV—the always-there, calm observer in the house. Once a passive screen, it’s now a background participant.

  • Pet Care: When you’re out, your TV can detect barking and play content your pet likes. Is it silly? Maybe. Is it smart for dog owners who hate leaving their pups alone? Definitely helpful, even if merely a placebo.
  • Family Care: The TV dims lights when it senses a child has fallen asleep and provides live room updates. This also works when the screen is off.
  • Universal Gestures: Control your TV using a Galaxy Watch (Watch 4 or newer). Rotate the bezel to scroll, and make a fist to go back. Hardly essential, but it beats hunting around for the remote.
  • Generative Wallpaper: Don’t like blank screens? With the OLED models, you can create AI-generated visuals to match your mood or decor.
  • SmartThings Hub: Built directly into the TV, this replaces the need for a separate hub, allowing you to manage your smart home visually from the couch. It even shows a live 3D layout of connected devices—something SmartThings previously offered only via an app.

Supporting all this is Samsung’s refreshed One UI Tizen interface, which has been redesigned to mirror the familiar Galaxy ecosystem. Each household member can have their own profile, with curated content and settings. The 2025 TVs are also guaranteed up to seven years of OS upgrades—a step up from the usual 4–5 years—and three years of security updates.

The new lineup also sees the inclusion of Samsung Knox Vault, which secures your passwords, device data, and even phishing protection within a hardware-isolated security layer to prevent your TV from becoming the weakest link in your smart home setup.

Quick model breakdown

  • Neo QLED 8K QN990F: Samsung’s most advanced TV, with NQ8 AI Gen3 Pro processor, Glare-Free display, and the first-ever Wireless One Connect box—allowing for full cable separation up to 30 feet. Includes full Vision AI suite and audio enhancements like Object Tracking Sound Pro and Motion Xcelerator 240Hz.
  • Neo QLED 4K (QN90F, QN85F, QN80F, QN70F): Part of the same Vision AI ecosystem. The QN90F leads the range with a Glare-Free screen and the upgraded NQ4 Gen3 AI chip. All models except the QN70F support up to 165Hz motion.
  • OLED S95F: Samsung’s brightest-ever OLED, featuring OLED HDR Pro and Pantone-validated colours. While it supports Vision AI, it does not offer Generative Wallpaper due to panel limitations.
  • The Frame Pro: Combines a premium Neo QLED screen with new features like Wireless One Connect and AI-powered Generative Wallpaper. It supports refresh rates up to 144Hz, dynamically dropping to 60Hz in Art Mode to save power.
  • Crystal UHD / FHD / HD: These entry-tier models are not part of the Vision AI rollout.

Also worth noting: The Samsung Art Store, previously exclusive to The Frame, is now available on Neo QLED 8K and 4K, as well as QLED models. This expansion makes Samsung’s curated collection of over 3,000 digital artworks—from institutions like MoMA and the Magritte estate—more accessible to mainstream buyers.

Soundbars: a quieter kind of clever

Samsung’s soundbars for 2025 follow the same philosophy: subtle updates that make everyday usage better without flashy specs. The new HW-Q990F soundbar pairs best with Samsung’s 2025 TVs and builds on the Q990D with:

  • Compact dual active subwoofers with less resonance
  • Dynamic Bass Control for clearer low-end output, managed by AI
  • Q-Symphony, now enhanced with the TV’s NPU to improve how audio syncs across devices
  • Active Voice Amplifier Pro to reduce background noise and sharpen dialogue

Meanwhile, the HW-QS700F adds a gyro sensor that auto-adjusts audio based on its orientation. Place it horizontally or mount it vertically—it knows what to do. These additions won’t change how you think about sound systems—but they’ll make it easier to live with.

Pre-orders are open till 1 June 2025, with free gifts and trade-in bonuses worth up to SGD 1,448. This includes a free Galaxy Watch 7 on select models, Art Store subscriptions, and additional vouchers for buying a new soundbar.
