The Razer Blade 15 features a 240Hz OLED QHD display. And that, I guess, is pretty much all you need to know.
In essence, Razer’s announcement points to a vibrant, colour-accurate display that is responsive enough for esports. And it’s on a laptop, not a monitor. The panel can hit 1ms response time and 400 nits brightness, and 100 per cent DCI-P3 colour accuracy.
It’s a monster of a display, and understandably, this also means that it comes with a monster price tag: an estimated USD$3,499.99 Q4 launch.
The processors are what you would expect from a high-end laptop, with a slight compromise. The new Blade 15 gets the current, 12th gen Intel Core i9-12900H and NVIDIA RTX 3070 Ti. For the money, you are essentially downgrading from an RTX 3080 Ti in favour of that killer display.
In terms of specs, things are more or less par for the course. The laptop sports 32GB of DDR5 RAM and a 1TB SSD, with an additional M.2 slot for expansion. Other frills include ThunderboltT 4, USB Type C, USB Type A, a full-sized SD card reader and an HDMI port.
It might seem like a misstep having a bells-and-whistles screen only to cop out on a top-of-the-line graphics card. But I guess even Razer isn’t feeling gung ho about smashing that $5,000 mark with a no-compromises model. That said, you could argue that an RTX 3080 is mostly unnecessary for the usual suspects on the FPS games roster.
